Lucky weekend

It was Wednesday and guess what? I had both our passports in my hand! At last, Abi and I could cross the Malaysia-Singapore border as we like. So I had my university friend (again, I know) sent me to the airport that same morning because I was going to meet my husband in Singapore! I called the office to inform about an emergency leave I had to take and I was good to go.

As witnessed by some, the separation had almost killed me. A little longer, I could die due to breathing difficulty and broken heart. So landing in Changi Airport that day had never been happier for me. I even bought myself some candy. Jellybean, anyone?

Although Abi was surprised by my coming over news (and so was my mom-in-law), he took the afternoon off and we had lunch together. Then we went home to talk about how we had missed each other and what was going on in our separate lives.

By the way my husband had already booked my flight back to KL that evening. We left home a bit earlier to have dinner at the airport. And Popeyes Chicken had never tasted better than that night, no kidding.

There was an hour delay of the flight I was boarding, though. I did not mind at all because I could spend a few minutes more with Abi. We had coffee, talked some more and finally it was time to leave. However, fret not because my husband will be coming home for the weekend, yay!
On Friday when I was updating my mp3 player files, I came across this nice song. I never heard it before because I am not a current music follower (sad, I know) but I fell in love with it the minute I listened to it for the first time.

I felt that this particular song had something and everything to do with my life. At least I would interpret it like that. So here is how this song is connected to me and my husband:

Lucky by Jason Mraz featuring Colbie Caillat

Do you hear me? I’m talking to you
Across the water, across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky, oh my, baby I'm trying

Boy I hear you in my dreams (every single night, Abi)
Feel your whisper across the sea
Keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hard
Lucky I'm in love with my best friend (I am his)
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again (Malaysia or Singapore)
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
They don't know how long it takes (since January 14, 2001)
Waiting for a love like this (let me tell you: he is a catch!)
Every time we say goodbye (make that every weekend)
I wish we had one more kiss (so true, darn!)
I wait for you, I promise you, I will (I do, I do, I do)
I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend (he sure is mine)
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Lucky we're in love every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed (KL or Pasir Ris)
Lucky to be coming home someday
And so I'm sailing through the sea (Straits of Johor)
To an island where we'll meet (Singapore)
You'll hear the music, feel the air (more like flight announcement)
I put a flower in your hair (okay that is just exaggerating)

And though the breeze through the trees (Singapore is that windy)
Move so pretty, you're all I see (would you look at him? Sigh)
As the world keep spinning round
You hold me right here right now (and take all troubles away)
Lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Lucky we're in love in every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

So the tune became last weekend’s theme song. I sang it to him in the car, on the sofa in front of the TV, from the bathroom and even in bed. I was like falling in love with him for the first time all over again. I meant every single word, Abi. Then again, you already know that. I just hope I did not break your eardrum, though.

Hey Abi, Happy 1st Wedding Anniversary! It has been a year, woo hoo! Just do not forget you still owe me that special dinner. And I owe you, well, I owe you a lot of things. So you will have to keep me around forever to let me finish making it up to you, alright?

I love you, smart guy. I cannot wait to see you again this coming Thursday!
